Author Marla Frazee’s 2010 creation was a witty take on the early toddler years and the power of first words. The movie version of “The Boss Baby” is an elaborate fantasy involving magical formulas, alternate worlds, chases, and Elvis impersonators. The two veteran actors were seen in White Plains allegedly filming for an untitled Steven Spielberg project recounting the Pentagon Papers. 20th Century Fox says its 'Untitled Steven Spielberg' project about the Pentagon Papers is now known as 'The Post.' The full cast has been revealed for filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated, previously referred to as The Post and now titled The Papers, and boy is it impressive. Spielberg is currently in the midst of the lengthy post-production process on his sci-fi adaptation, opening in March 2018, and had planned on next directing the historical drama, but a timely piece of material came his way and coalesced into a project Spielberg wanted to tackle ASAP. Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep to shoot this untitled drama to be ready for release later this year, as the film recounts the Washington Post’s role in exposing the Pentagon Papers to the public in 1971, and how Post editor Ben Bradlee (to be played by Hanks) teamed up with the organization’s first female publisher Kay Graham (Streep’s character) and the New York Times to challenge the federal government over their right to publish. The Pentagon Papers was a classified study that revealed harrowing details about the futility of the Vietnam War, which exposed that the Nixon Administration had been lying to the public. When the White House stopped the New York Times’ initial release of the papers, Bradlee and Graham fought to publish the rest in direct defiance of the Executive Branch. Image via HBO With a December 22, 2017 release date set, Spielberg has assembled one of the most exciting ensembles since, well, Spielberg’s own Lincoln. Per, the cast is as follows: Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford, and Zach Woods. You may notice plenty of Prestige TV faces here from everything from The Leftovers to Fargo to Silicon Valley, and this revelation only makes the film that much more compelling. Filming on the 20th Century Fox and Amblin Entertainment co-production is already underway, and after that December 22nd limited release the film is expected to go wide on January 12, 2018. Liz Hannah penned the script on spec, and Spielberg is producing alongside Amy Pascal and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Given the level of talent involved and timeliness of the premise, one imagines this is gonna be a major contender during the coming Oscar season. Of course we’ve been burned by these kinds of “sure things” before (see: Unbroken and Live by Night), but come on, this is Spielberg. We’re in a different league here. When American military analyst, Daniel Ellsberg, realizes to his disgust the depths of the US government's deceptions about the futility of the Vietnam War, he takes action by copying top-secret documents that would become the Pentagon Papers. Later, Washington Post owner, Kay Graham, is still adjusting to taking over her late husband's business when editor Ben Bradlee discovers the New York Times has scooped them with an explosive expose on those papers. Determined to compete, Post reporters find Ellsberg himself and a complete copy of those papers. However, the Post's plans to publish their findings are put in jeopardy with a Federal restraining order that could get them all indicted for Contempt. Now, Kay Graham must decide whether to back down for the safety of her paper or publish and fight for the Freedom of the Press. In doing so, Graham and her staff join a fight that would have America's democratic ideals in the balance. Much to my surprise, I found Spielberg's account of the Washington Post's constitutional battle with the Nixon Administration over the Post's audacious and impulsive decision to publish the leaked Pentagon Papers in 1971 to be mildly prosaic and detached. It definitely lacks the raw drama it was obviously angling for and key scenes came across as tentative and sloppy. Despite an impactful, committed performance by Meryl Streep as Katharine Graham, the publisher of the Washington Post who helped crush gender barriers in journalism and a lively turn by Tom Hanks as the brash and swaggering Ben Bradlee, editor of the Post, this film suffers from a lack of depth and a surprisingly scattershot approach to the story by Spielberg. A viewer would be forgiven for coming away with a flawed understanding of the Pentagon Papers because the film is more about how the Washington Post came into national prominence by defying the White House in publishing documents the government claimed as top secret and vital to U.S. Military success in Vietnam. Some might argue that this film should be watched and evaluated more deliberately but when Spielberg himself rushed through the material and the filmmaking process, it's harder to claim that the viewer has missed something. With this much proven talent on both sides of the camera, haste makes waste. Not recommended. 7.3 Naslov: Liga pravičnih (Justice League) Premiera: 16. 2017 (Slovenija) Žanr: akcija, stripovski Država: ZDA Igrajo: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher Režija: Zack Snyder OPIS: Nad Zemljo se spravi najhujša zla sila, kar jih je kdaj bilo – starodavni sovražnik, ki preži na vsako najmanjšo ranljivost, ki jo je povzročila Supermanova smrt. RECENZIJA: Leto 2012 predstavlja velik mejnik v žanru stripovskih filmov. Liga pravičnih je namreč povsem prazen spektakel, poln posiljenih enovrstičnic, obupnih posebnih efektov in naveličanih obrazov, kjer prednjači predvsem Ben Affleck. I got so high before going in to see 'The Last Jedi' it's a wonder I figured out how to get into the theater. We started rocking the shatter bong hardcore, just pump it, pump it, till you can actually feel your brain melting, then hit that nail and do it again and again. At some point somebody asked the question 'where are we?' And while I was reflecting philosophically on the matter, somebody else pointed out that we were parked in a lot by the cineplex and we slowly realized that we were here to see 'The Last Jedi'! I could barely function at all, so I went to my old go-to routine of donning dark glasses and a white cane to help disguise my complete stonification by pretending I was just some poor blind guy stumbling around and knocking things over. I usually do this to get past security at rock concerts and it never crossed my mind that a blind guy wouldn't be able to see a movie in the first place, but it worked anyway and soon enough we were in our seats. There were these fucking kids sitting right behind us and they kept kicking my seat like little retards, kicking, kicking, kicking. So I took the lid off my extra-large Coke and just tossed it over my shoulder. The little creeps shuffled off all pissed and whining, covered in sticky cola, us laughing at them, calling them losers, it was great! Then the movie started. The sound was awesome and everything but the screen was pretty freakin' dark I thought, could hardly make out anything. I started chanting 'Turn up the brightness! Turn up the brightness!' , expecting the rest of the audience to join in to my righteous chant of outrage, but then I realized I still had my Blind Guy Glasses on. Took 'em off and yup, cleared right up. There was some kind of big space battle going on so we took out our vape pens and started hoofing back lungfuls of sweet sweet shatter vapor. My girlfriend started texting me, bitching at me to pick her up some vag pads on the way home. Get up off your fat ass and get 'em yourself I texted back. A barrage of bitchtexts followed, I was a jerk, I was an asshole and bla bla bla. I took a picture of my bare ass and sent it to her as a reply, fuckin bitch, anyway, apparently, this was considered 'indecent exposure' according to the usher-dork who wouldn't shut up about it so we had to leave the movie. We saw those stupid kids in the lobby as we were being escorted out, laughing at US, calling US 'losers'. I wanted to get back at them when they came out, even formed this elaborate plan where we would swoop down on them and soak them with freezing water this time, but we ended up just getting high again then went to Burger King. My oldest son, as well as myself of course, wanted to watch this movie already before Christmas when it went up Geneva but it was pretty much sold out (unless you wanted to sit at the very edge of the theatre). I manage to book tickets for yesterday though sohere’s my ramblings about the movie. As usual with these kind of movies, where there is a large following of fans, there is also many dissenting voices. Some people apparently are going as far as to want this movie to be undone. Star Wars 8 [2017] Full Movie| Online Download - DVDRip. Star Wars 8 Info. The Last Jedi” has been in theaters for just eight days and it. Star Wars: The Last Jedi 2017 Spanish DVDrip.720p avi Free Torrent Download download Taking the first step in the Jedi world, Ray Bow transforms the Skywalker into an adventure with Leah, Finn and Po, which causes the secrets of Force and the secrets of the past. Well, my take on that is that these people need to grow up or let go or both. Luke is no longer a young farm boy running around saving the universe. The Star Wars universe and its characters are evolving and that is the way it should be and the way it is. Time for the next generation to pick up the torch. Both me and my son really liked this movie. After the abysmal episodes I to III (Jar Jar Binks still haunts me in my dreams) I have really enjoyed the Star Wars movies. I quite liked The Force Awakens but it is true that it felt a bit like a rehash of A New Hope. Not only does this one not feel like it is reusing old material (too much) but it also feels like it is opening a new chapter in the Star Wars universe. The FX is as good as you have the right to expect from a Star Wars movie. The story is fresh and well developed. It will not win any Oscars of course but I liked it. It makes things evolve while at the same time giving enough room for action and a wee bit of humor. The characters are almost all good and well played. I am looking forward to seeing more of most of them, especially, Rey and Poe. I’m not 100% convinced about Finn and Rose but I can live with them. Kylo Ren do not yet fill up the shoes of Darth Vader but he is showing promise. Contrary to Snoke I do feel he should put on a mask though. The two characters I did not really like was General Hux and DJ. The first one was just incompetent. I’m not sure if he was supposed to be a bit of comical relief or not but, as far as I am concerned, we can do without him. DJ, well I guess he was supposed to not be liked so he did a good job of that but these kinds of assholes just frustrate me to no end. We never saw him actually meet his demise in this movie so if he is brought back I hope it will be for the sole purpose of rectifying that oversightas violently and painfully as possible. Of course, we saw a few new ships as well and as usual with the Empire bigger is betteror maybe not. Not sure what to say about these new designs. At least they did not look like a enlarged (except for the bridge) Star Destroyer like Darth Vader’s Super Star Destroyer. One thing that really bugged me in the first battle though was the rebels’ so called “bombers”. What kind of bloody moron designed those? They were just so wrong in so many ways. The design itself was just silly looking. They were slower than a flee on a patch of tar. Seriously, a space bomber that crawls along? Actually, why make a “bomber” in space at all? That brings us to the biggest gripe of them all with this ludicrous designdropping bombs vertically? How the fuck do they fall? Sure they looked somewhat cool when they dropped their bombsif your knowledge of physics is on the level of your average politician (and obviously a few Hollywood employees as well). Anyway, on the whole me and my son had two and a half hours of great fun watching The Last Jedi. I hope the next movie expands on the threads this one started. I have to say that I was a bit sorry about the feeble state of the resistance at the end, so I do hope the next writer will not let this drag on. One way to ruin Star Wars for me would be to turn Star Wars into some Battlestar Galactica variant with resistance survivors on constant run from the empire. Now it is time for the resistance to strike back, and for Rey to evolve her Jedi powers. There is so much to love about _The Last Jedi_. I was very entertained watching this 8th _Star Wars_ saga film, I'll see it again, there's some truly beautiful scenes, all that jazz. But I am not fully on board with _The Last Jedi_. The film is a fun watch, and if you were to take it as a whole, then place it in a bubble, it's a pretty good movie too, but a lot about it is. I'm not saying the movie was pointless, it has a lot to offer, and deserves its place as Episode VIII, but there are moments started within _The Last Jedi_ that end up being pointless by the time the credits roll, and more than that, it goes back to ideas from the _Star Wars_ saga as a whole, and makes them pointless too. _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. Would personally recommend you give it a go._. Really disappointing. Our heroes of Star Wars have essentially wasted their lives and achieved nothing. We were promised sequels and got a retread. I for one would have loved to see the building of the Galactic Republic against terrorists of the Imperial Remnant. Instead, we got Failure Luke, Failure Leah, gone nowhere Chewie and a rebel alliance that appeared to entirely fail to do anything meaningful after episode 6. I actually have less difficulty accepting 1,2 and 3 into canon then I do this pap. My headcanon has already decided, these movies do not count. The Last Jedi started with a very tense emotion, capturing all viewers' attention tightly including mine (I've seen all movie episodes of Star Wars series so this type of scenario should look familiar to me). This tense and epic feeling filled the entire film, so even it is a bit lengthy, people won't sleep over:) however, the scenes involving Rey and Luke on the isolated island planet look super quiet and mindful. It was similar to the scene in previous episode when Luke was seeking help from the Yoda Master. However, it felt more complex, because never had Yoda been described being evil, not a bit. One tiny detail that I felt redundant and unconvincing was the reincarnation of Leia Princess. How did she fly back to the ship? As far as I can tell, no reason is given in the film. This lets you suspect whether she was going to be who can command the Force like a Jedi, but well all you can do is just suspecting. Another critical option that I had to express was about the role of Kylo Ren. He is a complex character, and I am not sure that he believed in until the very end of the story. The climax of this complexity arrived at the scene when he killed Snoke and fought along with Rey, trying to persuading her to come for *a new world*. But this complexity simply came and disappeared. The story continued in the old way and our powerless always furious Ben Solo kept playing a simpleton role of any typical bad guy. The role is depicted as, adequately complex, but not consistent and lively enough (compared to the former Lord Darth Vader). Leave a Review? You must be and to submit your review. I’m a college freshman and I recently had a confrontational disagreement with my English professor regarding an R-rated film. It is her favorite movie and she wanted to show it in class. I went to your Web site to research the film’s content. Although I had not seen the movie myself, I was able to make an educated argument against it based on the concerns you outlined. The prof said that she was impressed by my stand and decided to poll the whole class and give us a choice. We overwhelmingly voted to watch a G-rated movie instead! But when you're an American-raised son of an immigrant Pakistani family, well, it's a lot harder. This thirtyish Uber driver/stand-up comic wouldn't mind settling down. But not with any of the steady stream of eligible Pakistani women his fiercely traditional parents—especially his mother—keep trying to set him up with. No, Kumail, despite his heritage, has been deeply shaped by American culture. Instead of going to law school like his parents want, he haunts Chicago comedy clubs. Instead of dutifully saying his Muslim prayers like his parents want, he secretly plays video games. Instead of settling down with a nice Pakistani girl like his parents want, Kumail lives in a detritus-strewn apartment with fellow singleton and would-be comic Chris. In short, Kumail—unlike his dutiful older brother, Naveed—is a disappointment to his parents, who sacrificed everything to emigrate from Pakistan to America and give their boys the best opportunities possible. Despite Kumail's fraught relationship with his cultural identity, however, that ethnic and religious heritage provides ready-made fodder for his stand-up routine. When he half-jokingly begins his routine one night by asking, 'Any Pakistanis in the house?' A blonde American gives a playful, enthusiastic whoop in response. Emily isn't Pakistani. But she is intrigued by Kumail. And he by her. By evening's end, they end up in bed together. Both insist they have no interest in a real relationship. After all, Kumail's nascent comedy career is, er, unpredictable. And Emily, a master's student in psychology at the University of Chicago, needs to focus on her studies. But the sex just keeps happening. Soon, so does a real relationship—one that's badly undermined by the fact that should Kumail go public about his romance with an American girl, his parents will likely literally disown him. That obstacle seems insurmountable. But even as Kumail and Emily's relationship collapses, so does Emily's health. A strange, pernicious lung infection spreads ominously, and Kumail's the only nearby 'family' member who can authorize doctors to put Emily in a medically induced coma to stabilize her. Until her parents, Terry and Beth, arrive, that is. As various conditions worsen—Emily's health, the health of Kumail's relationship with his parents—something unexpected happens: Kumail bonds deeply with Terry and Beth. It's not clear Emily's ever going to wake up. But if she does, she'll be forced to deal with the fact that her parents have practically adopted the guy she just broke up with. There's a temptation to think that everything in life should be cut and dried, black and white. Most of the time, though, we muddle through messiness and complexity. The Big Sick is a tender story about dealing with life as it is, in all that complexity, especially in the context of our closest family connections. Kumail's parents absolutely want the best for him, repeatedly trying to make a marital match in the traditional Pakistani manner. The film depicts that traditionalism sympathetically, even as it helps us see that Kumail's experience in America has made it difficult for him to embrace those ways. And so we see the tension between Kumail's desire to honor his parents and the reality that he struggles deeply to do so. Kumail's choices eventually lead to a significant rupture with his parents. But despite heated words and pronouncements about Kumail's status in the family, his parents both try (in their own ways) to keep lines of communication open. Emily's parents, meanwhile, are about as different as they can be from Kumail's. They have their own problems (namely, fighting over the kind of care their daughter should receive), and it's clear that conflict is very much a part of their relationship. Amid those tensions and the questions about whether Emily will live or not, Kumail and Terry develop an almost father-son relationship. Beth doesn't warm to Kumail nearly as quickly. But she, too, eventually comes around, encouraging Kumail not to give up hope in his relationship with Emily. As for Kumail and Emily, their relationship begins primarily as a sexual one. But it quickly becomes something much deeper. Kumail makes mistakes that prompt Emily to question his commitment, but as she lies unconscious in the hospital, he gradually realizes how deeply he loves her. Similarly, it's also clear how devoted Emily's parents are to her as they (along with Kumail) spent days by her side. Kumail, to his credit, apologizes multiple times to Emily, to his parents, and to Terry and Beth for ways that he hasn't told them the truth. Verbal references are made to Islam throughout the film. Some involve Kumail's mother talking about her desire for her son to be a 'good Muslim.' At one point, she tells him to go downstairs and pray on the prayer rug in the basement. Kumail appears to obey, but sets a five-minute alarm on his phone and surfs the internet instead of praying. Eventually he tells his parents that he hasn't actually prayed in years, and that he doesn't know what he believes. 'Islam has been good for you, and it has made you better people,' he says. 'But I don't know what I believe. I just need to figure it out on my own.' We repeatedly see a small Buddha fountain in a hospital chapel. The soundtrack includes Beck's 1996 song 'Devil's Haircut.' Kumail and Emily waste little time before hooking up (in Kumail's apartment) the first time. We see them kissing passionately, but then the camera cuts away to a post-coital scene in bed. (He's shirtless, but she's still got a top on.) When he suggests having sex again, she jokingly says she never has sex twice on the first date. The couple is shown in bed several other times (we also see Kumail in bed with another woman, whose shoulders and negligee are visible), but what we see of their physical relationship never goes beyond kissing. In fact, after one early encounter, Emily puts her clothes on under a blanket because she's not comfortable with having Kumail see her unclothed at that point. We hear crude quips about a woman's breasts, manual stimulation, oral sex, honesty after sex and someone's penis size. The punchline of a bad joke involves an animal's genitals. There's also a serious discussion about one character's infidelity. We hear a repeated joke about whether someone is good in bed. A doctor asks Kumail if there's any chance that Emily could have HIV. (She doesn't.). Characters drink a variety of alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, martinis, whiskey) throughout the film. Kumail and Emily have several shots before they go back to his place for the first time. Emily later reveals that she used to drink 'a lot.' Elsewhere, Beth definitely seems as if she's feeling the effects of multiple glasses of wine. As Kumail and Terry talk about the merits of different kinds of wine, Beth chimes in, 'I like wine because of the buzz'—something it's clear she's currently experiencing. There's speculation that a comedian at a club is doing cocaine (before his performances) behind a closed door. Kumail's comedy sketch touches on the drug known as 'cheese,' a blend of Tylenol and heroin, he says. Kumail's roommate, Chris, says he once got kicked out of the house as a teen for smoking marijuana. Kumail has a hard time telling the truth. It's not because he's naturally a deceptive person, but rather because the consequences of telling the truth have such significant impacts on his life. That said, using deception to hide who he really is—especially with his parents—has become a way of life to him. Kumail's father says he hacked a relative's Facebook account to find out what was really going on with him romantically. There are several jokes about ISIS, some made by Kumail, one made by a racist white guy in the audience at one of his stand-up routines. There's also a verbal gag about someone desperately needing to go to the bathroom in which we hear the word 'dookie.' In some ways, The Big Sick is a pretty typical romantic comedy. We have the obligatory meet-cute, obligatory make-out scenes, an obligatory break up and obligatory dramatic tension about whether the couple is going to get back together again. In other ways, The Big Sick veers wildly from that well-established formula. Perhaps that's because the story is loosely based on actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani's real relationship with (co-screenwriter) Emily V. Gordon—including Emily actually being in a coma for eight days in real life. That dramatic event's depiction in this movie, paired with the tension between Kumail and his parents and Emily's parents, sets The Big Sick apart as a rom-com of a different kind. There's more going on here than just romantic tension. Indeed, the film delves into themes of racial and ethnic identity, the reality of loss and death, and the importance of family relationships—even when those relationships are a mess. There's a lot of mess in this movie—both in Kumail's life and in the film's content itself. The Big Sick's willingness to wade into the complexities of love and family make it surprisingly compelling. But this rom-com also wades into profanity and sexual innuendo, too, creating a conundrum for would-be viewers who might otherwise have enjoyed the nontraditional love story The Big Sick wants to tell. Kumail (Kumail Nanjiani), in the middle of becoming a budding stand-up comedian, meets Emily (Zoe Kazan). Meanwhile, a sudden illness sets in forcing Emily to be put into a medically-induced coma. Kumail must navigate being a comedian, dealing with tragic illness, and placating his family’s desire to let them fix him up with a spouse, while contemplating and figuring out who he really is and what he truly believes.
